Description

BTEC first certificate in  Art & Design  is equivalent to 2 GCSE’s.

What will I Learn?

In year 10 the course will initially be fairly structured and you will be expected to produce work in different areas of study such as 3D design, drawing and painting. During your 1st year you will develop your artistic skills, which will prepare you for further study in Year 11.

In Year 11 you will be asked to produce a portfolio of your coursework and also devise a project of your choice, based around ‘Visual arts’ .This will be an exciting time as you see your work up on display and hopefully see how hard you have worked over the course.

What are the Entry Requirements?

There are no entry requirements however, you will be expected to draw and colour from different sources, so an enjoyment and interest in Art is essential.

The BTEC is an excellent starting point for pupils who wish to study Art in further education.

How will I be Assessed

The BTEC is based upon 2 core units and a 3rd unit of choice.

100% of coursework is included in the final grade.

Future Opportunities?

BTEC Art & Design is accepted as a starting point for many courses, these include Graphic design, interior design etc… and then further study at degree level.  This is also a good starting point for any career involving the arts, such as digital media, fashion design, film game & animation.  This qualification is particularly useful for pupils who want to study art at college level.

Further Information

"Art and Design is not just a subject to learn, but an activity that you can practise: with your hands, your eyes, your whole personality" (Quentin Blake).
