The Art GCSE course at Batley Girls is a course based on a series of projects, with a main emphasis on practical artwork covering a range of processes. In Fine Art you will develop skills with painting, drawing, printing, 3D and digital techniques.
Pupils who opt for the Art and Design double option package with have the opportunity to be entered for a second option under the Art GCSE heading, Unendorsed, where they will develop strong skills in more than one art area, such as ceramics, photography, textiles, print-making, and 3D. This new opportunity for pupils to be double entered and gain a second GCSE has been put together to enable students to develop speciality skills and a strong portfolio of art in a range of areas.
Topics taught for each area of the subject will give you chance to explore feelings about yourself and the world around you through finding new forms of organisation, interpretation and communication of experience; we will work with you to unlock your creativity, and develop important thinking skills with creative thinking and problem solving.
This course suits students who enjoy being creative and practical. Skills used in this course will be easily transferred to and from other media or design related interests, such as English, Design Technology, and an interest in the world and people around you that relates well to Humanities.
