This course is equivalent to 4 GCSE’s grades A – C, it is ideal for students who have a committed interest in this subject area. BTEC qualifications have been developed to provide the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to prepare students for employment.
On successful completion of a BTEC First qualification, students may progress into employment and/or continue their study in this area. BTEC Firsts have been developed in the art and design sector to focus on:
- education and training for those who are intending to work in the art and design industry to achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 vocationally specific qualification
- qualification to progress to higher education vocational qualifications such as the Level 3 BTEC National in Art and Design or AS Art & Design
- providing opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
