Description

We offer students the ideal opportunity to open the door to a potentially exciting, rewarding career. The Travel and Tourism Industry needs dynamic people, ability, energy and fresh ideas. All our course take place at Margaret Street on the Wakefield Campus. Students will also be able to gain a unique first hand travel agency experience in our own Global Travel office within the College, and deal with real customers, bookings, information and brochures. We offer the best qualifications available in order to meet the needs of our students, as well as the needs of the industry. Alongside their main qualifications, students will be given the opportunity to achieve other professional qualifications that will help enhance their CV and job prospects. Our team of dedicated lecturers is made up of highly qualified industry and education professionals. Students may also have the opportunity to experience local and national visits and residentials.

What will I Learn?

Students must complete the following units:

• Introduction to the Travel & Tourism Industry

• Introduction to Tourist Destinations

• Introduction to Customer Service in Travel & Tourism

• Introduction to Marketing in Travel & Tourism

• Organising a Travel & Tourism Event

• Travel & Tourism Study Visit.

What are the Entry Requirements?

Predicted A*-D at GCSE, or working at National Curriculum Level 5-6 at the end of KS3. Minimum Level 1 or equivalent Communications and Number Skills. An interest in the Leisure and Tourism industry is also beneficial.

How will I be Assessed

Five units will be assessed throughout the year. One will be externally assessed, based on a vocational assignment set by Edexcel.
