Description
The NVQ and Technical Certificate elements of the Advanced Apprenticeship framework include topics such as curriculum planning, liaising with parents, organisational skills to assist with the day to day running of the establishment. You will also complete Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication, a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, and broaden your knowledge about Employment Rights and Responsibilities. This is a work based learning qualification so most of your learning will take place in a working environment.
What will I Learn?

Advanced Apprenticeships in Children's Care Learning and Development are aimed at people working within a child care setting, who have supervisory responsibilities. (0-16years)


To achieve the full Advanced Apprenticeship Certificate candidates must complete the full NVQ award plus key skills and Technical Certificate.

NVQ

The following units must be achieved

  • Develop and promote positive relationships
  • Develop and maintain a healthy , safe and secure environment for children
  • Promote children's development
  • Reflect and develop practice
  • Protect and promote children's rights
  • Plan and organise environments for children and families
  • Promote the health and physical development of children
  • Assess children's progress according to curriculum frameworks for early education
  • Plan implement positive environments for babies and children under 3 years
  • Create environments that promote positive behaviour

A portfolio of evidence must be assembled for both key skills to achieve the Advanced Apprenticeship, together with an on line test for: -

Please note some exemptions from external tests may be applicable

On line tests can be carried out on a lap top in the work place or in the training centre

  • The provision of effective and high quality childcare environments
  • Promoting child and young person development
  • Promoting learning within early education frameworks

What are the Entry Requirements?
You must be employed in the childcare sector in a supervisory role. You should have already completed the NVQ Level 2 in Childcare or equivalent.
How will I be Assessed
You will undergo ongoing assessments to monitor your competence, ability and understanding. Off the job training will be provided in the form of lectures held weekly at the training centre. Observations will take place in your workplace. We also offer evening lectures to make your learning more accessible
What are the Costs?
If you are aged 16+ the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) may fund the Apprenticeship programme.
Future Opportunities?

On completion of your Advanced Apprenticeship your progression opportunities will include Teacher training, Nursing, Health Visitor, opening your own nursery.
